FAQ

How does it work?

After an initial consultation (either in person or over the phone) to determine your needs, I will send you a detailed food questionnaire to help me better understand your family's likes/dislikes, allergies, dietary restrictions, etc. I will then create a customized menu tailored specifically to you. Upon your review and approval of the menu, I will work with you to schedule a day to shop for ingredients, come to your home (with my own tools, pots, pans, etc.), and prepare your meals in your kitchen. I will then label and store everything (along with easy reheating instructions) and leave your kitchen just the way I found it, so that all you have to do is come home to the wonderful smell of home-cooking and delicious food made just for you.

Are the meals prepared with organic ingredients?

Organic ingredients are ideal, but because I shop for ingredients specifically for you, YOU get to decide how much or how little of them are organic. I understand that buying organic is more costly, so I will only purchase all-organic produce/meats with your approval. I stock up on organic pantry staples (spices, dried herbs, oils, vinegars) whenever possible.

What if I'm gluten-free (keto, paleo, vegan, dairy-free, etc.)?

This service is ideal for those with special dietary needs/restrictions! Each meal is tailored to your specific needs and tastes.

Where will you shop for my ingredients?

I mainly shop at Whole Foods, Publix, and Fresh Market, but I will gladly purchase your ingredients from the grocery store/market of your choice! Need a few extra items? Let me know, and I will be happy to get them for you on my grocery run to save you a trip to the store! I always shop on the day of service to ensure maximum freshness of ingredients.

How long will you be in my kitchen?

Depending on the number of meals/servings being prepared, you can expect me to be in your kitchen anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. For the first visit, I ask that you be present to allow me entry into your home. You do not have to be home for future visits, as long as I have access to your home and kitchen (key, gate code, etc). You are always welcome to watch me work and ask questions, but please be mindful of my need to stay focused as well.

How will my meals be stored?

For a one-time $100 fee, I will provide you with a set of BPA-free, microwave-safe, freezer-friendly, glass containers in which I will store your meals.  These are yours to keep, even after service has ended. If you already own containers that you would like me to use, I can absolutely store your food in those instead, as long as they are BPA-free, microwavable, and freezer-safe. If you opt not to purchase or provide your own reusable containers, your meals will be stored in recyclable, microwave-safe, freezer-safe plastic containers for a fee of $1 per container. Regardless of container type, each meal will be carefully labeled with easy reheating instructions (if applicable) and can be stored in the fridge or freezer, based on your preference. I ask that you follow safe reheating guidelines and always consume refrigerated meals within 3 days of cook date.

When is payment due?

Service and pantry fees are due at booking, and reimbursement for groceries is due the day of service. I will provide you with an original grocery receipt at each visit. Payment can be made by cash, check, or via electronic transfer.
